Expert Picks for BMW Championship
Rickie Fowler [Yahoo Class C] - World Ranking: #32
After finishing with a share of second at the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational, the last three events have been disasters for Fowler. He’s dropped to 37th in points following three straight finishes outside the top 50. On the season, Fowler sits fourth in birdie average, 12th in strokes gained – putting, 18th in scoring average and 17th All-Around Ranking. The recent slide makes him a risk but Fowler has the skills to get back inside the top 30 and advance.
Over his last four starts, Karlsson has finished inside the top 20 on three occasions with a T4 at the PGA Championship. He ranks 24th in scoring average and needs to jump 14 spots to make the top 30. The Swede has won 11 times on the European Tour and has held his own in his first season on the PGA Tour.
This rookie, currently 30th in points, has been impressive with three top-10s in his last six starts, highlighted by a runner-up finish at the John Deere Classic. Stanley ranks 13th in total birdie average and total driving as well as 16th in All-Around Ranking.
In his last 11 rounds, Kelly has only exceeded 70 once. The veteran has a top-five and a top-10 in two of those events and has finished 26th or better in four straight.
John Senden [Yahoo Class B] - World Ranking: #46
Currently 55th in points, Senden will need a strong performance to jump into the top 30. He’s been a solid, if unspectacular, player for much of the season. In 23 events, the Australian has made 17 cuts with 12 top-25s.
Ernie Els [Yahoo Class B] - World Ranking: #24
It came down to the final few holes but Els managed to squeak inside the top 70 and lives to see another week. He finished a career-best T13 last year at Cog Hill but has a mountain to climb to advance to the TOUR Championship. It has been a rough season for the South African but he’s now finished 32nd or better in four straight.
