25. Ryan Palmer [Yahoo Class C] - World Ranking: #98
The 2010 Sony Open winner only managed a 52nd-place finish a year ago. While he had some moments, Palmer managed just three top-10s and eight top-25s in his 24 starts of 2011.
26. Jimmy Walker [Yahoo Class B] - World Ranking: #80
Last year at the Sony Open was Walker’s fifth start at the site and saw him finish a career-best fourth. Although he did not qualify for the postseason, Walker made six straight cuts to end his season with three finishes of 22nd or better -- highlighted by a top-five at The Greenbrier Classic.
27. Brendon de Jonge [Yahoo Class A] - World Ranking: #73
The native of Zimbabwe entered the final round of last year’s Sony Open in eighth, but would finish 20th. De Jonge ranked 30th in All-Around Ranking in 2011 with 10 top-25 finishes in 30 starts. He made a total of 22 cuts, while adding three top-10s.
28. Sean O'Hair - World Ranking: #156
Aside from a T12 from 2009, O’Hair has failed to impress in five career Sony Open starts. He’s coming off a mediocre performance in the Hyundai Tournament of Champions and appears unlikely to offer much improvement this week.
The veteran from Japan plays a very limited Tour schedule, but has finished 12th or better in two of his last three Sony Open starts.
Be careful if you are thinking of starting Vegas. He finished T57 in this event a year ago and is coming off a dead last finish in the Hyundai Tournament of Champions.
