Expert Picks for Transitions Championship
Carl Pettersson [Yahoo Class B] - World Ranking: #34
Pettersson has a win here, though it has been some time since he enjoyed that experience. Still, the Swede has established his rank among the golfers on the game’s second fantasy tier and his history on this course certainly suggests reason for optimism in 2011.
Goydos hasn’t been as active as hoped but he has shown a penchant for putting his years of knowledge to use. He owns one of the deepest Innisbrook resumes in the field and has done well in many of those stops.
Laird surged again last week, leading many in the know to mark his name as one of the sleepers to ride over coming weeks. He was hot again last week at Doral and this week he hopes to reverse what has been an otherwise forgettable Innisbrook resume.
Ryan Palmer [Yahoo Class C] - World Ranking: #98
Palmer has become one of the more consistent, reliable options from the game’s second tier and this particular course appears to be a good fit for his rising skills. He has refrained from extended visit in the past but his skills all but demand respect these days.
Sutherland is another member of the game’s older guard who has too much positive work on this particular Copperhead course to ignore. The man was in the mix for one of his best finishes last season and he could rise again in 2011.
Jimmy Walker [Yahoo Class B] - World Ranking: #80
Walker has been one of the hotter hands in the game over the early weeks of 2011 and last season he was looking for a spot near the top of the final leaderboard at this very event. With his rising returns, we can envision another top finish added to the string this week.
