Golf Rankings for HP Byron Nelson Championship
Ryan Palmer [Yahoo Class C] - World Ranking: #78
Following a run of missed cuts at the Nelson, Palmer broke out with a solo second last year. Over his last nine starts of the season, he’s missed two cuts while registering six finishes of 32nd or better, highlighted by a T4 at TPC Louisiana.
Johnson Wagner [Yahoo Class B] - World Ranking: #123
After five top-15s in his first nine starts of 2012, Wagner has not recorded a top-25 in his last five with two missed cuts. Wagner finished T12 at the Nelson in 2010, but skipped the event last year.
D.A. Points [Yahoo Class C] - World Ranking: #75
With a solo third at the Nelson in 2009, Points returned the following year to score a T7. He only managed a T40 last year, but finished with a share of second in his most recent start at Quail Hollow after missing three of his previous four cuts.
John Huh [Yahoo Class C] - World Ranking: #124
The rookie has missed three cuts in his last seven tries, but won the Mayakoba Golf Classic back in February and finished T2 at the Valero Texas Open. Huh obviously lacks experience, but he’s already hit some big highs this season and ranks 18th in All-Around Ranking.
Brian Gay [Yahoo Class A] - World Ranking: #154
Since 2008, Gay has three top-15s at the Nelson, while only missing one cut. However, aside from a solo fourth he hasn’t done much else over his last 11 starts this year.
Greg Chalmers [Yahoo Class C] - World Ranking: #195
In eight starts since March, Chalmers owns half a dozen top-35 finishes. He coming off a missed cut at THE PLAYERS and finished a career-best T16 at the Nelson in 2009.
Scott Piercy [Yahoo Class B] - World Ranking: #66
When he makes the cut, Piercy has been able to record solid finishes this season. Over his last nine starts he’s missed five cuts while recording a top-five and four finishes of 21st or better.
Charles Howell III [Yahoo Class A] - World Ranking: #56
Prior to missing his last two cuts, Howell had become a solid (if unspectacular) option with four top-20s and six top-30s in a span of seven starts. Howell finished T20 at the Nelson last year.
In his last three starts, Noh has finished inside the top 15 twice and is coming off a career-best T9 at Quail Hollow. The rookie has not been the most consistent player among the better first-timers at the Nelson.
Padraig Harrington [Yahoo Class C] - World Ranking: #133
Even though Harrington is a Tour veteran, this week will his first start in the Nelson. Prior to missing his last two cuts, the Irishman left the Masters with an impressive T8 finish.
Blake Adams [Yahoo Class C] - World Ranking: #170
Adams has missed seven cuts in his last 11 starts, but is coming off a T12 at THE PLAYERS and owns a T2 at the Nelson from 2010.
Jonas Blixt [Yahoo Class A] - World Ranking: #46
The Swedish rookie heads to the Nelson for the first time following impressive top-15s in each of his last two starts of the season. Blixt is very much under the radar and makes for a fine deep sleeper option.
