Golf Rankings for World Golf Championships-Cadillac Championship
Jason Day [Yahoo Class C] - World Ranking: #35
Day recorded a pair of finishes inside the top 10 in his first three starts of 2013 and is coming off a third-place performance in match play. Day, making just his third career start at Doral, is certainly playing well enough right now to improve upon last year’s T20.
Rickie Fowler [Yahoo Class C] - World Ranking: #32
Fowler has finished 13th or better in three of his four stroke play tournaments of 2013. He only managed T45 at Doral last year, but finished solo eighth in 2011.
Stricker has finished inside the top 20 at Doral five straight years, including last year’s T8. Stricker opened 2013 with a runner-up performance in the Tournament of Champions and is coming off a T5 in match play.
Webb Simpson [Yahoo Class B] - World Ranking: #19
Despite last year’s T35, Simpson played quite well in the middle two rounds during his first career start at Doral. Simpson was a combined 8-over in the first and final rounds versus a 12-under in the two days in-between. The winner, Justin Rose, won with a 16-under.
Lee Westwood [Yahoo Class C] - World Ranking: #11
Westwood has made five consecutive cuts at Doral, but owns just one top-20 finish. In his last two starts of 2013, he’s finished T21 at Riviera and T9 in the Honda.
Charles Howell III [Yahoo Class A] - World Ranking: #56
In his first trip to Doral since 2008, Howell finished T17 at the site a year ago. Last week, CH3 was sharp in the opening two rounds of The Honda Classic, but was blown away with the strong winds of the weekend.
Louis Oosthuizen [Yahoo Class B] - World Ranking: #6
Oosthuizen has made the cut all five times he’s played Doral since 2007. He finished T60 last year, but scored top-20 finishes in 2009 and 2011. Oosthuizen is coming off a missed cut in the Honda.
Phil Mickelson [Yahoo Class A] - World Ranking: #10
Mickelson is five-for-five in making his cuts so far this season. His lone top-20 finish was a victory in the Phoenix Open. Lefty won at Doral in 2009, but has finished outside of the top 40 each of the last two years.
Robert Garrigus [Yahoo Class C] - World Ranking: #38
Garrigus is a first timer at Doral, but has finished 22nd or better in all four of his stroke play tournaments this season. He’s coming off elimination during the quarterfinals of match play.
After winning the Tournament of Champions, Johnson suffered a wrist injury and has struggled ever since. Things appeared to be turning around with a strong opening round at the Honda, but he slid each day to a T46 finish. DJ has made each of his four cuts at Doral, with only one finish better than 35th.
Bill Haas [Yahoo Class A] - World Ranking: #29
Prior to a first round exit in match play, Haas rattled off three straight finishes inside the top 10 this season. Haas landed a T6 at Doral in 2010, but has finished T29 and T31 the last two years.
Peter Hanson [Yahoo Class B] - World Ranking: #20
Hanson has made five straight cuts at Doral and finished a career-best T4 last year. He’s coming off a T13 in The Honda Classic.
