Golf Rankings for FedEx St. Jude Classic
Fredrik Jacobson [Yahoo Class B] - World Ranking: #93
Jacobson has played Southwind 10 times and only missed the cut once. He’s made nine straight cuts this season with seven top-25 finishes. Jacobson is currently fourth in scoring average.
Brendon de Jonge [Yahoo Class B] - World Ranking: #80
After missing the cut in three previous attempts at Southwind, de Jonge finally managed a T34 last year. Over de Jonge’s last eight starts of the year, he’s recorded five finishes of 22nd or better. He’s also 12th in total driving and 19th in All-Around Ranking.
Jeff Overton [Yahoo Class C] - World Ranking: #188
Overton was a solid performer at Southwind from 2006-09 with a pair of top-10s. However, he skipped the event the next two years until last year’s T13. Overton had made six straight cuts this season before getting disqualified at Colonial and missing the cut last week at the Memorial.
John Rollins [Yahoo Class B] - World Ranking: #135
Rollins is coming off a season-high T4 at Colonial. He finished T15 at Southwind in 2010 and T25 in 2011 prior to missing last year’s cut.
Gary Woodland [Yahoo Class A] - World Ranking: #48
Woodland hasn’t played Southwind each of the last two years. However, he just matched a season-high T16 last week at Memorial. Woodland is fifth in driving distance, but needs to stand out elsewhere.
Jimmy Walker [Yahoo Class C] - World Ranking: #24
Even though Walker isn’t always putting together an impressive performance, he continues to do enough to make it to the weekend. His 73rd-place finish in last week’s Memorial extended Walker’s streak of consecutive cuts made to 24, the longest active string on Tour.
John Merrick [Yahoo Class A] - World Ranking: #109
Merrick won at Riviera back in February, but has been all over the place this year and has missed three of his last five cuts. He’s made four straight cuts at Southwind, including a runner-up performance last year and a T11 in 2011. If he wasn’t so inconsistent, Merrick could rank much higher.
Peter Hanson [Yahoo Class C] - World Ranking: #70
Hanson was playing pretty well in THE PLAYERS, but dropped to T72 after a poor performance in the final round. In his last two starts Hanson has lost in the second round of the Volvo World Match Play Championship and placed T30 in the Nordea Masters, both events on the European Tour. He’s playing Southwind for the first time.
Ken Duke [Yahoo Class C] - World Ranking: #133
Duke missed three straight cuts in May until a T31 at Colonial and a T16 last week at Memorial. He placed T7 at Southwind last year, his first start at the site since 2008.
Ian Poulter [Yahoo Class B] - World Ranking: #20
If you count the BMW Championship on the European Tour, Poulter has missed three straight cuts in stroke play events. His only trip to Southwind was a missed cut back in 2010. Poulter is among the bigger names in this field, but clearly not playing his best at the moment.
Padraig Harrington [Yahoo Class C] - World Ranking: #174
Harrington has already missed four cuts in nine stroke play events this year with a pair of top-10 finishes. He’s made the cut at Southwind four of the last five years.
Ross Fisher [Yahoo Class C] - World Ranking: #72
Fisher is coming off a T10 at Quail Hollow, his first top-10 while playing stateside this season. His last two starts have come on the European Tour, a T32 in the BMW and a solo eighth in the Nordea Masters. Fisher is playing Southwind for the first time.
