Charles Howell III [Yahoo Class A] - World Ranking: #56
Howell finished T5 in the 2011 John Deere, but missed last year’s cut. CH3 has now missed two straight cuts after making five in a row earlier in the season. Howell ranks 17th in strokes gained – putting and 25th in scoring average.
Since winning at TPC Southwind, English has finished T43 at TPC River Highlands and T34 at Congressional. He’s playing the John Deere for the first time.
Last week’s victory in The Greenbrier Classic earns Blixt a trip to the Open Championship next week, but he’ll remain committed to playing the John Deere for the first time in order to take the charter flight for those playing in both tournaments. Blixt won last year in the Fall Series and recently finished as the runner-up at the Nordea Masters, an event on the European Tour.
Rollins didn’t play TPC Deere Run last year after finishing T65 in 2011. He’s finished inside the top 35 in four of his last five starts. Rollins is 21st in All-Around Ranking.
After recording two straight finishes inside the top 10, Hoffman dropped 10 spots on Sunday in last week’s Greenbrier Classic to place T23. His only appearance at the John Deere was a missed cut in 2011.
Chris Kirk [Yahoo Class A] - World Ranking: #79
Kirk has played the John Deere each of the last two years, finishing T22 in 2011 and T30 last year. He’s only managed a single top-40 over his last six starts, but had recorded four straight top-30s previously. Kirk is 17th in birdie average and 22nd in scoring average.
After making four consecutive cuts at TPC Deere Run from 2008-2011, Davis missed the cut for the first time in the John Deere last year. Davis has made 12 of the last 13 cuts with 10 top-35 finishes.
Jones is coming off a T2 in last week’s Greenbrier Classic and recently placed T6 in the Memorial. He’s missed each of the last two cuts at TPC Deere Run, but finished fifth in both 2009 and 2010.
Gary Woodland [Yahoo Class A] - World Ranking: #198
Woodland has put together three finishes inside the top 20 in his last five starts, including a second round WD at Cromwell. He hasn’t played the John Deere since a T21 back in 2010.
Villegas has made six straight cuts with three top-30 finishes. He played the John Deere last year after an extended absence to end up T15. Villegas is 29th in All-Around Ranking.
After finishing sixth or better in three straight starts, Streelman has missed four consecutive cuts. He played the John Deere a year ago to a T8 finish. Streelman is 18th in total driving and 23rd in scoring average.
Stanley has played the John Deere three times since 2009. He was the runner-up in 2011 and added another top-20 last year. Since finishing solo third in the Memorial, Stanley has finished outside of top 70 in three straight, missing each of his last two cuts.
