Falcons' Jerious Norwood says he's healthy
Jerious Norwood. Remember him? He was the blazing-fast running back for the Atlanta Falcons from 2006-08. In those three seasons, he didn't get too many touches, but he made the most of them. He ran for 1,735 yards on 297 carries during that time. He was always an intriguing fantasy selection because of his game-breaking ability. He was a part of the Falcons in the past two seasons, but that electrifying ability has been sapped from him. He's missed 20 games since the start of the 2009 season, including all but two games in 2010 after tearing an ACL. The Jackson Clarion-Ledger caught up with Norwood on Friday, and he said that he has fully recovered from his major knee injury. "I'll be ready to roll this football season," Norwood said. "(Rehab) is pretty much over with."
Fantasy Analysis:
Norwood is a free agent this summer and considering his obvious injury concerns, there's no telling what the market will hold for him. His agent said Norwood could return to the Falcons, but I doubt it. Atlanta just drafted a very similar running back in Jacquizz Rodgers and could also re-sign Jason Snelling to continue playing behind Michael Turner. Norwood will likely have to settle for a one-year deal elsewhere and prove that he can stay on the field consistently. But if he can get somewhat consistent playing time in an offense with a good offensive line that has room for a explosive back, a healthy Norwood could definitely be worth keeping an eye on.
