Ravens RB Ricky Williams tells team he's retired
Last week, Ricky Williams
told the Baltimore Ravens' official website that he was "excited" to play in 2012 and that he was surprised how good his body felt at the age of 34. But in true Ricky form, he has changed his mind. He announced his retirement on Tuesday.
"The NFL has been an amazing page in this chapter in my life," Williams said in an official statement. "I pray that all successive adventures offer me the same potential for growth, success and most importantly, fun. ... I have to thank Coach (John) Harbaugh and the Ravens organization for the opportunity they gave me this year. I had so much fun and really appreciated the chance to finish on such a great note."
Fantasy Analysis:
Williams has one more year left on his current contract and while he was nothing special as Ray Rice
's backup in 2011, he was stable at the very least. He definitely had something left in the tank, and I join with those who think that we haven't seen the last of Mr. Williams. He would cost only about $1.5 million if he were to play next season
