Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles says he's 'ahead of schedule' after ACL surgery
Don't expect to see Kansas City Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles
during OTAs. He knows he's probably going to sit them out, but that's just fine to Charles, the Chiefs and a lot of fantasy owners. That's because it sounds like he's progressing very well after surgery to repair a torn left ACL. He suffered the injury on Sept. 18 during a week-two game at the Detroit Lions.
"I'm doing hard running right now," Charles said. "When I was down in Pensacola (Florida), Dr. James Andrews, who did my surgery, said I was ahead of schedule. They'll probably be smart about it for OTAs, be smart about me not doing that, and they'll probably wait until training camp."
Fantasy Analysis:
A long way to go, but so far, so good for Charles. Peyton Hillis
should be a popular handcuff during drafts this summer, but considering that Charles has age on his side -- he's only 25 -- he should be able to play come week one, nearly 12 months post-injury. The big question for Charles will be: Will he still have all of his magnificent lateral quickness this season?
