Colts GM announces that QB Andrew Luck will be No. 1 pick
Last week, Indianapolis Colts general manager Ryan Grigson said he knew who the team was going to pick at No. 1 overall but didn't want to make it public. Well, that didn't last long and as expected, Grigson's secret wasn't much of a secret. He confirmed Tuesday that quarterback Andrew Luck will be the Colts' pick when the NFL Draft kicks off Thursday night. Colts head coach Chuck Pagano said that Luck will join the team's offseason program after his June 7 graduation ceremony at Stanford. According to NFL.com's Jason La Canfora, Luck and the Colts aren't expected to have a contract finalized prior to the draft.
Fantasy Analysis:
Yeah, this is not breaking news but at least we now know for sure what the Colts are going to do. For all intents and purposes, the Vikings are on the clock at No. 3. Luck will have a couple of nice WR weapons in Reggie Wayne
and Austin Collie
. But Indy's running game is a mess, and its offensive line needs time to jell. I think Andrew Luck could be a QB2 in fantasy this season, but even he is going to have some growing pains, especially considering the questions on his surrounding talent.
