49ers draft WR A.J. Jenkins
The 49ers added wide receivers Mario Manningham
and Randy Moss
this off season. They already have Michael Crabtree
, Vernon Davis
, and a couple of good receiving running backs in Frank Gore and Kendall Hunter on the roster. Plus, they are still considered to be a run-first offense. That's why their pick at No. 30 in Thursday's draft was such a surprise. San Francisco tabbed Illinois wide receiver A.J. Jenkins. He caught 90 passes for 1,096 yards with the Illini last year.
Fantasy Analysis:
Jenkins wasn't projected to go in the first round by, well, anybody, I think. Either way, this is a reach pick. He can definitely stretch the field, but he needs a lot of work on the details. I don't expect him to be a big part of the Niners offense in 2012. He'll be buried on the depth chart, so forget about him in re-draft leagues.
