Titans still planning on WR Kenny Britt for week 1 after 2nd knee surgery
Tennessee Titans wide receiver Kenny Britt
underwent arthroscopic surgery on his right knee Wednesday, his second procedure on the knee in the past seven months. It was a clean-up job after Britt's knee experienced some swelling during his rehab from ACL-MCL surgery in October. Titans general manager Ruston Webster said this latest surgery would set Britt back only a couple of weeks at most, and the team is still expecting him to be ready for action come week 1 versus the New England Patriots.
"It is not one of those things, 'wow, oh no, he is having surgery,'" Webster said. "It is very common, and if it helps his rehab process and all that, it is well worth doing. And our goal is to have [Britt] play this year. It will be helpful to him, I think, and probably accelerate his rehab."
Fantasy Analysis:
Accelerate it in terms of he won't have to deal with the swelling, yes. However, let's be honest: This is still a setback. I am never one to take chances on players with major injury concerns, and Britt is such a player. But it's hard to overlook how productive he is when healthy. Just take a glance at his numbers through two games last year before his knee exploded. And that came after he missed most of training camp with a hamstring strain. Britt will most likely miss all of training camp this summer, but the big questions are can that knee can hold up through the season, and has its reconstruction taken away some of his ability. If you feel lucky, take him in your draft; you'll probably be able to get him at a bargain price. But the WR position has such tremendous depth this season, I'd rather select a similar player with knees I don't have to worry about.
