Norv Turner on Chargers TE Antonio Gates: 'He's back'
NFL players have had about four months to heal, give or take a couple of weeks considering how deep their playoff run went. San Diego Chargers tight end Antonio Gates
has supposedly made the best of that rest. His head coach, Norv Turner, wants to make sure we know.
"Gates looks great — he's back," Turner said Thursday. "Physically, he's back to where we want him to be. I think, like anybody, going through this offseason program helps you get better. (It's) the combination of conditioning, the combination of getting better in the areas you can improve, and being out there with your teammates."
Multiple foot injuries, plantar fascia most of all, have hampered Gates for most of the past two seasons.
Fantasy Analysis:
He's not the top fantasy player at his position any longer, but Gates is still a force, even with all of the pain he plays through. I don't expect him to play 16 games this season, but he remains productive and around the top-5 at TE.
