RB Ronnie Brown signs with Chargers
The San Diego Chargers have picked up some insurance for running back Ryan Mathews
, but nothing quite as good as what they had in Mike Tolbert. The Chargers signed 30-year-old Ronnie Brown to a one-year contract on Friday. He'll join Curtis Brinkley
and Le'Ron McClain behind Mathews on the team's running back depth chart. Brown got just 42 carries in his one season with the Philadelphia Eagles last year. Over the past two seasons combined while with the Eagles and Miami Dolphins, Brown averaged just 3.6 yards per carry.
Fantasy Analysis:
Brown will play if/when Mathews gets injured, but it's not like he's been an iron horse in any way. He's been bogged down by injuries throughout his career and hasn't been worth a look in fantasy leagues since 2009. Mathews remains a rock-solid RB1. He should get 300+ touches if he can play 16 games.
