Panthers acquire WR Louis Murphy from Raiders

Major League Baseball's trading season is getting into full swing, so why can't the NFL join the act? It wasn't a franchise-changing deal, but on Monday, the Carolina Panthers traded for wide receiver Louis Murphy @murph918. The Oakland Raiders received an undisclosed conditional draft pick as compensation. Murphy, who caught just 15 passes in 11 games last season, was the Raiders' most productive wideout in 2010. He caught 41 passes for 609 yards and two touchdowns that year.

Fantasy Analysis:

Right now, Murphy is a depth acquisition. But he's 25 years old and has shown flashes of talent. It's not as if Brandon LaFell @Blafell1 and Davis Gettis are untouchable. If everything breaks right for Murphy, he could work his way up to be the Panthers' No. 2 WR. But he has a long hill to climb. With the likes of Denarius Moore, Jacoby Ford and Darrius Heyward-Bey in tow, Murphy became expendable in Oakland.
