Fantasy NASCAR Preview: New Hampshire
11. Carl Edwards, #99 Office Depot Ford, Roush-Fenway Racing
Edwards had finishes of 12th and 13th last season at New Hampshire. Despite his strong start to 2008 and consistent results, he's not the class A driver of choice this weekend.
12. Ryan Newman, #12 ALLTEL Dodge, Penske Racing South
Like Kenseth, Newman also finished in the top 10 in both races last season. He didn't look particularly impressive in either event, but is a borderline class B selection.
13. Jeff Burton, #31 AT&T Mobility Chevrolet, Richard Childress Racing
Burton has an incredibly successful history at New Hampshire, but he hasn't been overly strong as of late. His last 4 starts have resulted in three 7th place finishes and an 18th place finish last fall. He does have 4 career wins, but you should also consider that he has just 3 other top 5's in 26 starts.
14. Greg Biffle, #16 3M Ford, Roush-Fenway Racing
Biffle can't really be judged by last season's results, as his team has improved greatly. Still, he was 31st in the spring and 13th in the fall. He has 4 career top 10's at New Hampshire in 11 starts, but probably isn't one of the best class B options.
15. Casey Mears, #5 Kellogg's/Carquest Chevrolet, Hendrick Motorsports
Mears had a strong run at Sears Point last week, shocking to many people. He was 8th last fall at Loudon, but is still considered a risky pick. That was his first career top 10 on this track in 10 starts.
16. Jamie McMurray, #26 Crown Royal Ford, Roush-Fenway Racing
I wouldn't go so far as recommending him, but he was 11th and 16th at New Hampshire last year -- solid results for McMurray. He has just 1 top 5 in 11 starts on the Magic Mile, but has the equipment to break out any weekend should his team ever get dialed in.
17. Kasey Kahne, #9 Budweiser Dodge, Gillett-Evernham Motorsports
Like Greg Biffle, Kahne is a guy who can't be judged by last season alone. When looking at his career at New Hampshire, he has 4 top 10's and 1 top 5 in 8 starts. Still, I think there are better options this weekend.
18. Kurt Busch, #2 Miller Lite Dodge, Penske Racing South
Busch had miserable results at New Hampshire last year, not cracking the top 20 in either event. He has a solid history, including a season sweep in 2004 followed by a 2nd place result in 2005, but is best used elsewhere.
19. David Ragan, #6 AAA Ford, Roush-Fenway Racing
Ragan was 15th and 19th in his two career starts at Loudon, both during his rookie campaign last year. He's an interesting class B choice, but I wouldn't be willing to place him on my roster just yet.
20. Brian Vickers, #83 Red Bull Toyota, Red Bull Racing
Vickers had a 5th place run in 2006 at Loudon and had trouble in the only race he ran there last year. His performance Sunday will be largely unpredictable, but just based on his success this year I think it goes without saying that he is the top class C pick available.
21. Juan Pablo Montoya, #42 Texaco Havoline Dodge, Chip Ganassi Racing
The 42 team had finishes of 19th and 23rd last year in Montoya's first couple of starts on the one mile oval. Judging by the performance of Ganassi's teams on the whole this season, you probably can't expect much more than that.
22. Bobby Labonte, #43 Cheerios Dodge, Petty Enterprises
Labonte is a great driver, but shouldn't be on your roster this weekend. He has only one finish at New Hampshire in the top 20 since his 3rd place run in 2005.
