Comments: NASCAR Picks for Michigan

After a trip to Pocono Raceway and its difficult passing conditions, a majority of the Cup Series drivers will be glad to exchange the flat corners of the triangle-shaped track for multiple racing grooves of the Michigan International Speedway. The 2.0-mile, D-shaped oval has one of the widest racing surfaces in the series, providing drivers with plenty of options and plenty of room to move through the field. Cars will be running up by the wall, down near the apron and everywhere in between during the course of the afternoon. Wherever a driver can find the most grip is where they will be running this Sunday.

For fantasy owners, the trip to MIS should be a decent opportunity to score a lot of points. Fuel mileage has played a factor on occasion, and ample racing room generally allows the drivers with the fastest cars to get to the front of the field. Clean air and track position are always important, but the multiple racing grooves helps neutralize some of the aero issues that often cause drivers to get trapped in traffic. More often than not, fantasy owners are rewarded for fielding a solid team at a Michigan track that has been fairly predictable.
