Comments: STP Gas Booster 400 Practice Recap: Drivers to Watch

There is no exact science to picking the top sleeper drivers each week. After all, the drivers that fall into this category are there because they aren't typically reliable from week to week or from year to year. However, being able to look at practice times for each driver while they are in race trim definitely helps with the guessing game. Unfortunately, Mother Nature decided not to provide us that opportunity this weekend at Martinsville Speedway as heavy rain washed out both of Saturday's scheduled practice sessions.

Without any practice times to rely on, a little improvisation is required, and I will use qualifying results as well as past results when discussing sleepers for Sunday's STP 500 at Martinsville Speedway. After all, track position is never a bad thing to have when nobody is going to know exactly what type of car they have to work with until the green flag drops. Meanwhile, drivers that have had a few good runs at Martinsville in the past should at least have the basis of a successful setup, which should give them a leg up on the competition. With that in mind, here is a closer look at some sleeper picks that could help out fantasy teams this weekend.

Drivers listed in this article:
  1. Jamie McMurray, McDonald's/Cessna
  2. A.J. Allmendinger, Kingsford/Clorox
  3. Brian Vickers, Aaron's Dream Machine
  4. Danica Patrick, GoDaddy.com
  5. Marcos Ambrose, Stanley/Dewalt Power Tools
  6. Aric Almirola, Smithfield Foods
  7. Alex Bowman, Burger King/Dr. Pepper
