2011 NFL Mock Draft

Round 1 of 1

1. STL: Marcell Dareus, DT, Alabama
The Rams got their franchise quarterback and may have enough weapons at wide receiver to look to the other side of the ball. Marcell Dareus will be a household name after the 2010 season and the Alabama DE/DT has the abilities to be the first overall pick.
2. DET: Robert Quinn, DE, North Carolina
Detroit has to find a way to get more pressure on the opposing quarterback and Robert Quinn is probably the safest pick in the draft right now. The North Carolina product has the potential to be the first overall selection and in this scenario the Lions would be very happy to get him at number two.
3. BUF: Andrew Luck, QB, Stanford
Buffalo gets their choice of quarterback, but the question is which one to get? Jake Locker is on top of most boards, but the situation will become much more muddled if Andrew Luck declares for the draft, although taking another Stanford signal caller to join Trent Edwards may not excite the fan base too much.
4. KC: Jake Locker, QB, Washington*
The leftover quarterback should go to the Chiefs and they need it... especially if they are drafting this high. Jake Locker is the more experienced player and will be the top overall player on many draft boards.
5. TB: Cameron Heyward, DE, Ohio State*
With Robert Quinn off the board, the Buccaneers need to find another 4-3 end or at least somebody who can help with their dismal defensive line. Cameron Heyward should be able to fill that role if he has another solid season at Ohio State.
6. NE: Mark Ingram, RB, Alabama
This may be a little too high to take Mark Ingram, since there are a slew of talented receivers and corners that have more draft value, but the Patriots will go out and get the player they need and a bruising running back who can carry the load is exactly what they need.
7. CLE: A.J. Green, WR, Georgia
Mohommad Massoquoi and Brian Robiskie are not bad receivers, but neither is a true number one guy. A.J. Green would be that guy if he falls this far.
8. JAX: Patrick Patterson, CB, LSU
Yet again, Jacksonville needs to address their pass rushing needs, but with Marcell Dareus, Robert Quinn and Cameron Heyward already off the board, they could improve their secondary instead and take the best corner prospect to come out of the collegiate ranks in the last few years.
9. ARI: Gabe Carimi, OT, Wisconsin*
Rarely does the first offensive tackle fall to the ninth overall pick, but unless Joseph Barksdale starts showing his upside, Arizona should get their pick of the liter. Right now Gabe Carimi is the best offensive tackle, but Barksdale and Anthony Castonzo will have something to say about that before the end of the 2010 collegiate football season.
10. DEN: Greg Romeus, DE, Pittsburgh*
Adrian Clayborn would likely fall here if the off-field issues are taken care of before the draft. Yet, for now he is a character risk. But with Greg Romeus on the board, the Broncos can get their much needed pass rusher.
11. SEA: Prince Amukamara, CB, Nebraska
The secondary may not be Seattle's biggest need, but picking up Prince Amukamara is a great bargain at this point in the draft. It is hard to find shutdown corners these days in the pass happy NFL, but Amukamara is one of those players who can change an entire team for a decade.
12. CAR: Marvin Austin, DT, North Carolina*
Marvin Austin has yet to live up to his hype, but he is a great athlete who has all the physical tools to turn into a great player in the NFL, and NFL teams will always take a chance on potential. Carolina needs a playmaker in the middle of the d-line and Austin's potential makes him an intriguing option.
