2013 NFL Mock Draft
In each of the past four years, he ranked inside the top-15 overall according to The Huddle Report.
Round 1 of 2
1. KC: Eric Fisher, OT, Central Michigan
Like everyone else in the mock draft world, I've had Luke Joeckel in this spot forever and a day. The shifting tides now say Fisher, the other stud tackle gets the nod. No point in fighting the current.

2. JAX: Dion Jordan, DE, Oregon
Not sure I get the sudden fascination with giving the Jaguars taking a tackle here, especially when for this year and possibly beyond that player may be a right tackle. Won't argue it's not the safest play, but the Jaguars finished with a league-low 20 sacks last season, making a defensive end/pass rusher the call here, in my opinion. Tougher debate is which defensive end to slot here, but Jordan's fit in Gus Bradley's defensive scheme combined with his experience over Ezekiel Ansah gives him the nod.

3. OAK: Sharrif Floyd, DT, Florida
Seeing as Desmond Bryant signed with the Browns and nobody thinks Richard Seymour is walking back through those doors, the Raiders need defensive tackle help. Another combine riser, the athletically gifted 20-year-old jumped to the top of the interior defensive lineman class.

4. PHI: Luke Joeckel, OT, Texas A&M
If I ran the Eagles war room, the card turned in would have the name Star Lotulelei on it. That's the way my mock draft has read for weeks. Alas, it doesn't now, part for purposes of my mock and part because the sense Philly wants an offensive tackle.

5. DET: Ezekiel Ansah, DE, BYU
Perfect world: Lions and Raiders swap picks, giving Detroit an OT (in this case Joeckel), leaving Floyd or Lotulelei for Oakland here. Alas, nothing about this draft is perfect, so we move onto Plan B, which in this case lands the Lions a much-needed pass rusher.

6. CLE: Geno Smith, QB, West Virginia
Seems like much of my last two weeks has been spent debating where does the WVU passer land. If I'm sticking Smith with a specific team, I'll say it's the Browns, but in a trade scenario possibly with the Chargers. Alabama corner Dee Milliner is the other option if they hold pat.

7. ARI: Chance Warmack, G, Alabama
Doesn't matter if the Cardinals line up Carson Palmer or Drew Stanton or Neil Lomax if the offensive line doesn't improve dramatically. Leading into the draft there is more talk about this pick addressing the inside of the line. Though Oklahoma's Lane Johnson is still on this board, seems likely another teams jumps ahead of Arizona to snag him.

8. BUF: Ryan Nassib, QB, Syracuse
Fine, I believe it. The Bills will end up with Nassib somewhere in the first, reuniting the QB with his college QB. Hopefully that fares better than Steve Spurrier and Danny Wuerffel. The real joke is Kevin Kolb and Tavaris Jackson at quarterback. Ha, that's a good one.

9. NYJ: Tavon Austin, WR, West Virginia
For all the talk about taking a pass rusher, the Jets overwhelming areas of concern are on offense. Following the Darrelle Revis trade, they might even go with a rather bold call to keep the fan base from freaking out. Enter Austin, a 5-foot-8 slot dynamo who hauled in 114 receptions for 1,289 yards and 12 touchdowns last season. The shifty one also had five career return touchdowns at WVU.

10. TEN: Star Lotulelei, DT, Utah
After projecting a guard to the Titans in mock after mock, we're changing the plan now that Lotulelei remains on the board. North Carolina's Jonathan Cooper is also consideration, but after signing free agent guard Andy Levitre, it just might not ultimately make sense to invest so much at the guard spot. If this scenario happens, give the Titans an A draft grade (even though draft grades are beyond silly) assuming they don't botch their other picks.

11. SD: Lane Johnson, OT, Oklahoma
Not sensing that Johnson slides to 11, but the Chargers could make a move into the top-6 for him. This call is more about that angle rather than a sliding down consideration.

12. MIA: Dee Milliner, CB, Alabama*
The Branden Albert trade rumor caused a change here. If that deal is off, then taking Alabama OT D.J. Fluker works within the context of the Dolphins horizontal draft approach. if Miami ships a second-rounder to KC, then another need is addressed. Corner help it is.

13. NYJ: Barkevious Mingo, DE/OLB, LSU
Taking Notre Dame TE Tyler Eifert along with Austin would be a bold call - and arguably the right one for such a lackluster defense. However it's about time Rex Ryan had a true pass rusher for his defensive plans.

14. CAR: Sheldon Richardson, DT, Missouri
In a division with Drew Brees and Matt Ryan, with Roddy, Julio Vjax and Colston, corners are a must and the Panthers are lacking now that Chris Gamble is gone. Carolina's defensive tackle situation is also ugly. When in doubt, go with the big guy and the explosive 295-pound Richardson is just that.

15. NO: Jarvis Jones, OLB, Georgia*
Saints could go in several directions on defense including safety, but pass rusher is arguably their top need.

16. STL: Kenny Vaccaro, SS, Texas
The Rams need one if not two safeties, though don't necessarily need to take one in the first because of the overall quality of the class. Yet with Austin gone, that's what they do. Vaccaro, who excels playing near the LOS and as a nickel pass defender, is at the top of the class.
