2007 NFL Draft Prospect Scouting Report:
personJamaal Anderson, DE, Arkansas
Jamaal Anderson is a big, athletic defensive end with room to add more bulk on his large frame. He shows great agility and quickness off the edge and can dominate as a pass rusher. Anderson exhibits enough power to "bull rush" his opponent or quickness to go around them. He is solid against the run, but may lack the speed to pursue the ball carrier or quarterback from behind in the NFL. Anderson excelled his junior season in a 4-3 scheme at Arkansas and is best suited to play defensive end in a 4-3 defense at the next level. He bolstered his value significantly with an outstanding junior season, recording 13.5 sacks and over 20 tackles for a loss. Anderson produced against some very tough competition in the SEC and seemed to be at his best against the best opponents. Although his technique may sometimes be a bit sloppy, his outstanding physical potential and tremendous upside will make him a first round selection. He should be a top 15, perhaps even top 10, selection on draft day.
