2009 NFL Draft Prospect Scouting Report:
Louis Delmas, FS, Western Michigan
impressive senior season with an impressive performance at this year's Senior Bowl classic.
Delmas excels in coverage. Locks up tight ends man-to-man
all over the field. He is also very fluid covering wide receivers. A smooth and fluid player, he almost looks like another cornerback. Smart and instinctive,
Delmas does not get fooled by fakes or trick plays. He stays home and carries out assignments by the book. He is able to get a good jump on the ball and closes
quicker than his 40 time (4.55 at the Combine). Delmas also has a knack for getting to the ball just in time; a natural ballhawk with hands and
awareness.
Delmas lacks size and strength and is just not a great athlete. He is not a great line hitter and can be run over by big and aggressive
runners. He tends to shy away from contact, and his level of competition is a concern.
There's no question Delmas is one of top two safeties in this
draft class. A better football player than an athlete, he seems to be always around the ball. He is a mid-to-late second rounder at this time. Delmas carries a
high bust/burst grade.

He tends to shy away from contact? Are you kidding? I have watched Delmas at WMU for four years, and he is know for his big hits on recievers and running backs. In that regard, he plays bigger than his size.
