2007 NFL Draft Prospect Scouting Report:

Samson Satele, OG, Hawaii

A versatile player, Satele played all three positions on the offensive line over the course of his career at Hawaii. The 6-2, 295-pounder initially lined up at tackle, then switched to left guard for his sophomore and junior seasons before taking over at center in 2006. Satele is by no means massive, which could make some NFL scouts shy away. He could get overpowered by the bigger defensive linemen at the next level if he doesn't add some bulk to his less-than-ideal frame. Not eye-poppingly fast, Satele is also not a textbook downfield blocker. While he is not fast, however, Satele is deceptively quick. His other key strength is smarts. Satele is a master of picking up blitzes and is rock solid fundamentally. Whoever his offensive line coach-and head coach-are at the next level, will have a lot to work with in Satele. Finally, NFL scouts will also love his experience, as Satele has been a starter since his freshman year as a Hawaii Rainbow. He clearly isn't the prototypical offensive lineman in terms of size, but Satele can make a decent impact right away and will only improve down the road. Look for him to sneak into the second round of the 2007 NFL Draft.
