2007 NFL Draft Prospect Scouting Report:
person

Ryan Harris, OT, Notre Dame

The red flag on Harris is his size, and that's never a good thing for offensive lineman. Harris is 6-4, but weighs in at only 299 pounds. That might be generous too, as it was reported that the offensive tackle even dipped below 280 pounds during his senior year at Notre Dame. The NFL scouts will obviously be checking that out closely at the combine. Harris better be at 299 and he needs to go well beyond the 300-mark if he's interested in being a day-one pick on NFL Draft weekend. He can get overpowered by opposing defensive ends at times, and that was the case for the entire Fighting Irish front line too many times for coach Charlie Weis's liking. One of Harris' strengths is his experience. He started eight games as a freshman and started every game the other three years. Also, while he does get physically outclassed every so often, rarely does he get beat on the outside. Without a doubt, Harris would be considered a finesse blocker. His skills must be on display at the combine if he wants to sneak into the second round.
