2008 NFL Draft Prospect Scouting Report:
person

DeJuan Tribble, CB, Boston College

As a Junior, cornerback DeJuan Tribble returned three of his seven interceptions for touchdowns, which tied a school career record. He started the 2007 campaign just as hot, picking off three passes in the team's opening game against Wake Forest. However, the rest of his senior season did not turn out as well. He was slowed much of the year with a sprained medial collateral and ended the year with just four interceptions and 35 tackles. Tribble is fast and aggressive. Few receivers will beat him down the field and Tribble always seems to be one step ahead in the mental game. With that speed and awareness, Tribble will be a decent corner in the NFL, but his size is a major cause for concern. At 5-9 and 190 pounds, Tribble can have problems with bigger receivers. Occasionally that was a concern in the college game and the opposition will certainly take advantage of it every day in the NFL. His size and sprained medial collateral have knocked his stock down a bit heading into the draft, but Tribble could still be a mid-second round pick. If he falls further than that, some team will get a great bargain. 2/28 Update: DeJuan Tribble was well off the pace with his 40 time compared to the premiere corners in this class. Not surprisingly, he was on the lower end of the bench press as well. He will need to show some more speed at Boston College's pro day to avoid slipping down further in the second day of the draft. 3/28 Update: DeJuan Tribble showed off a little more athleticism during Boston College's Pro Day, but his speed numbers were worse than at the Combine. His production on the field is solid, but without the numbers at the Combine or the Pro Day, Tribble's stock will fall. There are taller and faster corners out there that will creep up into the second round and that will leave Tribble waiting for his name to be called on day two. 4/18 Update: He might be waiting for a while on day two to hear his name called. The draft cannot come soon enough for DeJuan Tribble. After the Combine and Pro Day, the Boston College cornerback seems to slip down a round every week. Finding himself down in the fifth round is certainly a possibility. However, he was still a productive collegiate player and he will have the opportunity to work into a productive cornerback on the field.
