2014 NFL Draft Prospect Scouting Report:
person

Ka'Deem Carey, RB , Arizona

Although he lacks ideal straight line speed, Carey excels in lateral agility and a wonderful ability to make defenders miss in tight quarters. His numbers were slightly inflated in Arizona's run-oriented scheme; however, that doesn't change the fact that he reliably carried the ball like a workhorse.

Will need to play in a zone-blocking scheme for optimal transition to the NFL. Average power and average speed, but does play a little bigger than his size at times. Good stiff arm use. One move and burst. Plants his foot and get north-south. Slightly above-average vision. Can change direction without losing much speed. The problem there is that there isn't a lot of speed to begin with. Lacks a second gear and will likely be caught from behind when he breaks off a long run.

Good receiver out of the backfield. Can his body to the ball. Very good hands. Crisp route runner and uses shiftiness well to out-hustle safeties and linebackers in the flats. Needs a little help with pass protection techniques and vision. Off-the-field and maturity issues.

Carey projects as a late third to early fourth round selection in the 2014 NFL Draft.

FANTASY OUTLOOK: Very clearly benefitted from Arizona's system. Saw a lot of wide open running lanes thanks to the spread look. Still worth a look if he falls to you in dynasty though. Very productive and does a lot of little things well. No redraft value until he finds himself in an obviously favorable situation.
