2008 NFL Draft Prospect Scouting Report:
person

Kevin Robinson, WR, Utah State

A two lettered player in high school, Robinson was redshirted in 2003. Then played in eleven games and starting five during the 2004 season. He recorded 44 receptions for 602 yards with three TDs and also returned kicks and punts. Robinson started nine of eleven games during his sophomore campaign, catching 43 balls for 661 yards with eight TD receptions. He played in all of the team's twelve games (starting nine) during his junior season, recording 36 catches for 582 yards and five TDs. As in previous seasons, Robinson was the team's premier returner, amassing over 700 yards in kick and punt returns. He really broke out during his senior season in 2007, reaching his personal best in receptions with 55 and yards with 690; he also scored five TDs via passes. It was his return game that gave Robinson national attention. He returned over 40 kicks for more than 1,000 yards while scoring four TDs. He was invited to the East-West Shrine Game where he became the difference maker during the practice week leading up to the game. Robinson runs good routes and reads the defense well, able to easily setup defenders. He is very quick out of breaks, with soft and reliable hands. He will come back to the quarterback. Robinson has shown good concentration and will make the tough catches. He is more quick than fast (4.60-40) and also lacks real burst to get separation. Robinson is thinly built and needs to add strength because he is not a real good blocker. With a little more speed, Robinson could have projected as a middle round selection. He is a polished receiver, who due to a poor speed time, will probably land on the later rounds. There, he could be a steal for a team looking for a precise route runner who plays the slot.
