person

Simeon Castille, CB, Alabama

Castille garnered a lot of attention as a junior, when he totaled 71 tackles, six interceptions, six pass breakups and one sack. He was named first-team All-Southeastern Conference by The Associated Press and the league coaches. He turned in another strong campaign this past season, when had 63 tackles -- 40 solo -- 6.5 tackles for loss, 10 pass breakups and two interceptions. He was again named first-team All-SEC by the league coaches. Castille is an excellent athlete and has good size. He's a ball hawk. His size helps him be effective stopping the run and he's a good tackler. He seems to enjoy putting big hits on opponents. He has a lot of experience. Scouts rave about his instincts for the game. He has a toughness that will adapt well to the pros. He'll have a hard time overcoming his lack of speed -- 4.58 in the 40-yard dash. Possibly due to his below-average speed, he's prone to taking chances in coverage that could lead to big plays for the offense. He isn't fundamentally sound. His lack of speed has most scouts projecting him moving to safety in the pros. Some teams will be concerned about his off-the-field issues, as he was arrested prior to his senior season for disorderly conduct. He'll be better suited for a defense that employs a lot of zone coverages. He could rise dramatically up the draft chart with a good timed run, but otherwise he projects to be a late-round selection.
