2009 NFL Draft Prospect Scouting Report:

Matt Slauson, OL, Nebraska

By the end of his freshman year, Matt Slauson was in the regular rotation on Nebraska's offensive line. As a sophomore he was the regular starting right tackle before missing the last two games of the season with a leg injury. His junior campaign was a little less consistent. Slauson moved to the right guard spot, but also started games at right and left tackle. By the 2008 season, Slauson emerged as a consistent and versatile leader on a team that has had a successful offense during much of his career. At 6-5 and 320 pounds, Slauson has the size to be an effective guard in the NFL. He is expected to play at the right guard position during his senior season at Nebraska, but if injuries strike somewhere on the line, Slauson is the guy who can fill in at any position the team needs. During his big 2007 season, Slauson led the way for the offense who ranked in the top ten nationally in passing offense and total offense. Running back Marlon Lucky also rushed for over 1,000 yards that year. For his efforts, Slauson was rewarded with honorable-mention All-Big 12 accolades. He could be a first or second-team selection this year. Slauson has the look of an NFL guard, but he needs to be more productive at the collegiate level this year if he hopes to be among the top offensive linemen in this class. His versatility is a big plus, but he will probably be a guard at the next level.
