2009 NFL Draft Prospect Scouting Report:
person
Jeremiah Johnson, RB, Oregon
Johnson is one of those players who is boom/bust material. A three year semi-starter for the vaunted Oregon offense, Johnson certainly was productive. He began his Duck career in 2005 rushing for 147 yards (24-6.1-2TDs) on a limited role. In 2006, Johnson began to assert himself in the field rushing for 644 yards on 103 attempts (6.3) and 10 TDs. A major injury marked his 2007 campaign in which he managed only 344 yards (54-6.4 5 TDs). He rebounded with a career year in his last season at Oregon, amassing 1,201 yards on just 168 attempts with 13 TDs and his yards-per-carry average was an impressive 7.1. Johnson is a great athlete blessed with speed (he plays faster than the 4.52 he has clocked) and power. He plays with great balance and has a knack for finding holes (being very creative on the open field). Even with great lateral quickness, he does not run hard inside. He is a good, but not great receiver. Tending to wear down late in games, durability issues are a major concern. Johnson is just a notch below former teammates. Injuries and questions about his pro potential have damaged his draft status. But, with a good post season and an impressive pro day, Johnson could hear his name called in the second or early third round.
