2014 NFL Draft Prospect Scouting Report:

Kony Ealy, DL , Missouri

Ealy has a bright future ahead of him. He chose to forgo his senior season and will enter the 2014 NFL Draft. Blessed with prototypical height and length, he looks like a great 4-3 DE fit or even a 3-4 DE further down the line depending on how his frame fills out in the years to come.

The lazy comparison would be to former Missouri DE/OLB Aldon Smith. Ealy is a different player though with a little more girth and strength to his game. He gets off the line well, although occasionally will play too high. This allows the blocker to get under him with leverage. Ealy needs to really improve his hand fighting since he will sometimes spend too much time trying to disengage. Good spin move and swim move.

Solid in run support. At his best when he can move to a spot and occupying a lane against zone blocking. Above-average range and moves with good pace down the line. Looks for big hit too often and would be better off wrapping up and driving the ball-carrier to the ground.

Above-average motor. Really relentless in pursuit and takes nice angles on the backside. Will probably need to add another 20 pounds of muscle, especially in his lower body, to become a full-time starter.

Ealy projects as a late first round pick in the 2014 NFL Draft.
