2009 NFL Draft Prospect Scouting Report:
Troy Kropog, OL, Tulane
at Tulane, Kropog is finally getting the attention he deserves. He was named to the All Conference USA first team following another impressive
campaign.
Versatile, can play inside or outside. He excels in initial pass protection and then slides out easily to cut off explosive edge rushers. A
good zone blocking Tackle, he has quick footwork, agility and speed (5.32). Kropog gets out of his stands and setup quickly; pulling, gets around the corner and
executes lead blocks on the move. Though, he does need to keep his feet moving to better maintain blocks in the second level.
Kropog has a habit of
stopping his feet once contact is gained. He usually gets bested by secondary pass rush moves and second wave bull rushers. His technique needs more polishing
and his footwork is not polished enough right now. Does not drive defenders off the ball and dominate, so Kropog will need better coaching. He also tends to
overextend on angle blocks and struggle to finish.
Kropog is a good athlete who has been improving every year. He is a good and intelligent player who
could be moved inside. Projected as a third rounder by many publications, Kropog could slide into the middle rounds due to the depth of the position. In time,
he could develop into a full time starter.
