2010 NFL Draft Prospect Scouting Report:
person

Carlos Dunlap, DE, Florida

Dunlap was outstanding for Florida over the past two seasons. Despite starting just two games as a sophomore in 2008, Dunlap recorded 9.5 sacks and 13.5 tackles for loss, leading the Gators in both categories. In 2009 he was second on the team with 10.5 tackles for loss and first with nine sacks. Dunlap also made 38 total tackles (29 solo) and broke up three passes. He had no real red flags surrounding him until a December 1 DUI arrest that subsequently left him suspended for the SEC Championship (which turned out to be Florida's first loss of the season, to Alabama). He does not have a ton of starting experience, but that does not appear to be a real issue. On the field, Dunlap's talent is without question. He is even a force against the run, despite specializing in getting to the quarterback and disrupting any and all attempts at an air attack. During the season he appeared to be the best defensive end in the draft class, but that changed in part due to his DUI and mainly as a result of awesome seasons by other stars at his position. Dunlap still should be a lock for the first round, especially after running a 4.59 and a 4.57 in the 40-yard-dash at Florida's pro day. With that kind of blend of speed and size(6'6', 290 pounds), Dunlap is a physical monster that NFL teams will have a hard time passing up. Look for him to go off the board between pick 20 and 30 in April's draft.

Prediction: 1st Round

Theres no way this guy should be playing OLB he needs to be in a 3-4 defense as a DE!!! lets just hope for his sake he doesnt get forced to play OLB !!! I think he might be good on this above average Raiders defense! He was caught driving drunk which most of us have done more than a few times, and no one should ever do, but should this really affect his draft stock? has he really been "in trouble with the police"? I know what he did was dead wrong and absolutley the wrong thing but he was a college kid at the time and one of the ones that got caught because he fell asleep at a red light!!! lol (not funny) I just hope we dont start labeling him as being in trouble with the "police" because of a very common thing that NO ONE should ever do!!

Well Carlos has a mountain of potential. He could be a Michael Strahan or another big name sitting on the bench. He had some good early years at Florida, and he is one of the best blends of size, speed, and power I have ever seen but his is immature about the game. He has already been in trouble with the police and i dont know if he has the maturity to make it in the NFL

I hope for Dunlap's case he doesn't get put in Orakpo's place in that he gets made to play LB instead of DE. The best thing for him would be a 4-3 defense.
