Lonyae Miller, RB, Fresno State

The Fontana, California product had a very average career for Pat Hill and the Fresno State Bulldogs. A starter since his freshman year in 2006, Miller went on to post decent numbers all through his time at State. He rushed for 287 yards on 54 carriers (5.3ypc) and 2 TDs in 2006. Then he topped those numbers with ease in 2007 with a banner 609 yards, 133 carriers (4.6) and 7 TDs campaign. Miller set career highs in yards (812 on 120 attempts) and average (6.8) in 2008. Though, he slowed somewhat in 2009 recording just 4 scorers in 68 attempts (354 yards). Strengths: Used size and power well. Shows good initial burst. Can find cut back lanes and can break tackles. Has a good second gear to get outside containment. Has good speed (4.50est) and runs with good pad level and balance. Weaknesses: Doesn't do anything outstanding. Isn't strong enough at the point of attack. Easy to bring down near the line of scrimmage. Gets caught from behind too often in the open field. Is not a creative runner. Despite good speed, he lacks explosiveness. A liability as a receiver. Is a below average blocker who does not use his hand well. Miller is a borderline draft prospect. In fact, it is a good bet he will not be taken in April. Nevertheless, he does have some upside and with coaching and more experience he can contribute as a spot back.

Prediction: 6th Round

Some team will see late round value in Miller despite never being the regular in college. His numbers in limited time arr appealing with a lot of long touchdown runs but hasn't proved he's wortha pick yet.
