2010 NFL Draft Prospect Scouting Report:
person

Koa Misi, DE, Utah

Full name is Nawa'akoa Lisiate Foti Analeseanoa Misi. After a solid career at California's Santa Rosa Junior College, Misi made the jump to big time college football when he joined Utah prior to the 2007 season. Misi started 11 of 13 games for the Utes that year recording 67 total tackles, 8 for loss, with 2.5 sacks. He had a similar output the following two years: In the Utes' magical 2008 campaign, the product of Santa Rosa, Cal recorded 68 tackles, 8.5 for loss with 3 sacks; He matched that production during his senior year (65 tackles, 4.5 for loss). Is a good athlete who will give you a consistent effort every time he takes the field. Versatile. Has played both end and outside linebacker. Has deceptive speed (4.64) and range. Has the burst to make plays all over the field. Shows good instincts as a down lineman. Reads the play well and will slide to avoid would be blockers. Is not overly physical. Thin and under-developed. Lacks bulk to hold his ground against offensive linemen on run blocks. Does not move through traffic particularly well. Misses too many open field tackles. Has a bad habit of stopping in mid play. Is raw and does not read passing plays well. Despite production, he is not a playmaker. Misi is a better football player than a pure athlete. He does have some upside as an OLB, but needs to bulk up in order to make a difference. He is a nice fourth or fifth round value who could be over-drafted due to the weakness of this year's OLB/DE class.
