2010 NFL Draft Prospect Scouting Report:

Will Barker, OT, Virginia

Will Barker arrived at Virginia as a tall and relatively skinny offensive lineman. He spent the 2005 season as a redshirt hitting the gym and gaining 30 pounds. That bulk paid dividends immediately as Barker earned the starting right tackle position during the spring of 2006 and held firmly onto that spot. His success at right tackle during his freshman campaign earned him various national and All-ACC freshman accolades. Barker continued to be a steady starter in 2007 and helped Virginia improve their rushing game. The story was the same in 2008 where Barker once again started every game at right tackle. In 2008 the Cavaliers only allowed 16 sacks, ranking first in the Atlantic Coast Conference, and Barker deserves some of the credit for that success. It is difficult to find a 6-7, 320 pound offensive tackle that has started at a major school for four years. Barker may not be as dominating as Russell Okung or Ciron Black (or Trent Williams or Bryan Bulaga), but he is a consistent performer and could be a superb right tackle in the NFL for years to come and that is certainly worth a third or fourth round selection; or possibly a second round selection if Barker has a solid Senior Week.
