2011 NFL Draft Prospect Scouting Report:
Jake Locker, QB, Washington
Locker is a good athlete who can make pass rushers miss due to his quick feet and decent pocket presence. He can make the short and intermediate passes with ease, but does not have great arm strength. Locker certainly has benefited from returning to school and spending more time in a traditional offense.
He could have gone pro early and been drafted in the first round last year, so NFL teams should know that his extra year in college can only be a good thing. Locker may have to battle it out with Andrew Luck for the top quarterback spot in the draft…if Luck goes pro early. Where Locker will surpass Luck is during the workouts, but that may not be enough to be the top quarterback in this class, but Locker will likely be a top ten selection.
2/3 Update: The Senior Bowl rarely gives a quarterback an opportunity to improve his draft stock, but it can certainly make a signal caller's stock drop quite quickly. Neither of those happened to Locker. He did relatively well during the week's practices and even started to play quite well in the Senior Bowl itself before falling off. Now things will move to the NFL Combine to see if Locker can move up in the first round or fall to the second.

You could put cement blocks on his feet, and he'd be still falling this fast, I see him falling into early round two to one of the QB-need teams that don't take one in the first round (I'd project him to go later, but i don't think that will happen due to the lack of QB depth this year)

One more thing he is alot like Brett Farve or John Elway in Talent.

Looker has high upside. Not a fininshed product but has all the tools the NFL wants. Work ethic, speed, size, smarts, leadership, arm strength, and just great person. He will rate out very high in all things. The worry about locker is he really only played in a NFL offense for 2 years and was inconsitent at times. Everyone if Locker was on USC, Texas, Ohio State, Oregon, LSU, Alabama or any of the top programs he would be the #1 pick by far. His OL sucked one of the worst in the NCAA and his reicivers are good but get no seperation and have drops. He make good plays and great leader. Most people will be shocked about him in the NFL. The combine will blow everyones mind just wait and see!!!!!

He is a lot like Cutler with his arm and Garrard with his mobility. Sure fire first rounder- would fit Arizona, Tennessee, Minnesota and Jacksonville. Who might stun the NFL and release Garrard because of the huge contract.

if you love brett favre you'll like jake locker and he will be drafted in a similar position, late 1st to early 2nd.
he needs some coaching and time to break away from his panic and run mentality he has developed running for his life in washington. that said, i like him way more than ryan mallett and wouldnt hesitate to pick him with a late 1st round selection. love his attitude and fire, no doubt he's a true leader!

locker will go to someone crying for a qb. (posssibly) Vikings. 49rs need a aggressive d lineman. Cal Jordon seems to be good fit.

He will go in the first round, however I think people are giving him too much credit and not enough in others. His positives are he is a great leader and as good of a person as you will ever find; his athleticism is unquestioned and has solid arm strength. His negatives are his clear lack of accuracy and the inability to read coverage. You cant teach accuracy no matter what people say and the fact that he is still having trouble with his reads is a big concern. But above everything else he is fragile and that will only get worse in the NFL. draft with caution

Locker is awful. Simply awful. I have no idea why everyone is so high on him. I live in the NW and I have watched him play since he was a freshman. He has shown flashes of ability, but is wildly inconsistent and simply cannot put it all together. He completes a very low percentage of his passes and makes poor decisions. Washington lacks talent around him, but if he is truly a #1 prospect, he should make his team that much better. But he has not done that. Plus he has proven that he cannot stay healthy. He is Tim Tebow without the Golden Boy persona (and championship rings). He will not be a successful NFL QB. I can't wait for him to get drafted high and then be a complete bust.

Locker was absolutely awful in the Holiday Bowl against Nebraska (failing to complete a pass in the first half, he ended the game with just under 60 yards passing). Keeping in mind that Nebraska virtually failed to show up for that game, Locker's future may likely follow those of Ryan Leaf, Heath Shuler and Akili Smith, instead of the first round potential scouts somehow saw at the beginning of last season.
