Jonathan Crompton, QB, Tennessee

Crompton has been under serious scrutiny at Tennessee (never more than at the beginning this season), but he turned it all around in a major way to end his career (prior to a pending bowl game) in Knoxville with a bang. The senior quarterback took a lashing from fans and media when he threw for zero touchdowns and a combined five interceptions in losses to UCLA and Florida as the Volunteers began their 2009 campaign 1-2. Since then, however, Crompton has tossed 21 touchdowns and just five interceptions, as Tennessee wrapped up its regular season with a 7-5 record. Crompton finished his year with impressive numbers (even shocking numbers considering how he started the year): 209-of-358 for 2565 yards, 26 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions. He also added a rushing touchdown and took only 12 sacks after being sacked 10 times in 2008 despite far less playing time. "I really thought he was going to have a great year," said first-year head coach Lane Kiffin. "He's worked so hard. He has all the tools and prepared for this season. I really thought he was going to play great and play as well as anybody in the conference. It's been great to see this." The tools to which Kiffin refers include impressive size at 6'4' and 228 pounds. Crompton has good arm strength and is capable of making all the throws required of an NFL quarterback. He can run under 5.00 in the 40-yard dash, but he is far from being a mobile quarterback and he is no real threat to tuck the ball away and take off downfield. Crompton has also greatly improved his accuracy, and especially his decision-making. He does not have a ton of experience, as this is his first season as a full-time starter; he played in eight games as a junior--starting six--after starting one game in his first two years as a Volunteer. Crompton looked like an NFL afterthought earlier this season, but his stock is on the rise and it is fair to predict that will be better at the next level--if he gets a chance--than he has been in college. After once appearing to be an undrafted free agent at best, Crompton should be off the board sometime on Day 2 of the 2010 NFL Draft.

Prediction: 3rd Round

Has all the tools and ended his career on a high note. Played in a pro-style offense and showed improvement from previous seasons when he got the system down.

On a side note: Lane Kiffin is a douchebag.

Prediction: 3rd Round

The only negative concerning Crompton is his pre senior season numbers, he has what it takes to play in the league and should be talked about in the first round, but won't.
