2011 NFL Draft Prospect Scouting Report:
person

Owen Marecic, FB, Stanford

Owen Marecic has been one of the great stories of 2010. Every week the fullback and linebacker seems to be on the field for every play and has helped Stanford reach a BCS bowl. It is quite rare for a player to score on offense and defense in the same game, but Marecic took that feat to new heights early in his senior campaign against Notre Dame. Within 13 seconds, Marecic rushed for a touchdown and intercepted a pass and returned it for a score. That has been how Marecic's senior season has gone. Through the regular season, he has 20 carries for four touchdowns and has added nine receptions for 75 yards. However, Marecic is in the game much more often than that and has done a superb job blocking for the young Stanford backfield.

On the other side of the ball Marecic has started all 12 games and tallied 45 tackles. Marecic has a nose for the ball and has broken up five passes this season and picked off two. He will even occasionally get into the backfield and do some damage.

The big question is where does Marecic fit in the NFL? He is really a fullback, but he is also one heck of a special teams player who can make plays no matter what the situation may be. For an NFL team that actually uses a fullback, Marecic will be a steal in the fourth or fifth round.
