2011 NFL Draft Prospect Scouting Report:
person

Alex Linnenkohl, C, Oregon State

Oregon State had an up and down season. The team knocked off strong squads like Arizona, California and USC, but lost to the likes of Washington, Washington State and UCLA. That inconsistency (and a tough non-conference schedule) halted any hope the Beavers had of reaching a bowl game. One player who was more consistent than the team as a whole was center Alex Linnenkohl. The 6-2, 303 pound offensive lineman has been the anchor of the line, for better or worse, during the last three seasons.

After redshirting in 2006 and playing in just two games as a freshman in 2007, Linnenkohl moved into a starting role and never gave it up. For his efforts he earned Pac-10 Conference Honorable Mention accolades in 2008 and 2009 and never missed a start during those two seasons. Linnenkohl moved up in the conference's pecking order during his senior season and was named to the All-Conference Second-Team.

The poor 2010 season for the Beavers has diminished Linnenkohl's draft status. However, Linnenkohl can separate himself from some other centers during some of the pre-draft workouts. He has solid instincts and is strong and athletic enough to be a solid player at the next level. Right now there is not much buzz about Linnenkohl, but he has some time to change that and emerge as a mid-round selection by April.
