2011 NFL Draft Prospect Scouting Report:
Jerrard Tarrant, FS, Georgia Tech
Once Tarrant got on the field he made a huge impact for the Yellow Jackets. In his first season suiting up for Georgia Tech, Tarrant accounted for all four non-offensive touchdowns that season. He returned two punts for scores and one of his three interceptions was also returned for a touchdown. The safety even returned a fumble 40 yards for yet another trip to the end zone. That is a lot of big scoring plays for a safety.
The biggest issues facing Tarrant heading into the draft is his tweener status and his lack of consistent production. He really is not strong enough to play safety in the NFL, nor does he have the quickness or instincts to be a great safety at the next level. He is a playmaker and there should be a place for him on an NFL roster, but his questions outweigh his strengths and Tarrant should have to wait until the later rounds to hear his name called.
