2012 NFL Draft Prospect Scouting Report:

Emanuel Davis, CB, East Carolina

East Carolina may be known for their high-scoring offense, but they have some playmakers on defense, including cornerback prospect Emanuel Davis. He's a bit undersized, but plays big and excels in press coverage. He is certainly athletic enough to contribute as a nickel corner early in his career.

Like many young corners, the natural ability is there, but the next step is cleaning up his fundamentals. His hips are stiff and Davis will too often open his hips when it is not needed. He has adequate speed and a nice closing burst when making plays on the ball. Not a natural leaper, but does well to meet the ball at its apex.

Davis is a solid open-field tackler. If he can make a play on the ball, he shows very good hands to secure the turnover. Davis really though is at his best in off-man coverage and asked to run on the inside hip.

Davis is a work in progress fundamentally, but has the upside to be a starter after some grooming. He projects as a fifth round pick in the 2012 NFL Draft.
