2012 NFL Draft Prospect Scouting Report:

Tramain Thomas, FS, Arkansas

Thomas has a ton of experience as he prepares to take his talents to the next level. The Arkansas cornerback played in 12 games as a freshman in 2008 and started once before making four starts as a sophomore. Thomas has been a full-time starter ever since, hardly coming off the field on the defensive side of the ball as a junior and senior. In 2010 he tallied 83 tackles, four interceptions, four forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries. Heading into his team's bowl game at the end of its 2011 campaign, more of the same has continued for Thomas. He boasts 87 tackles (2.5 for loss), five interceptions, and one forced fumble.

The Winnie, TX native stands at 6'0'' and 204 pounds. He generally runs in the high-4.5s of the 40-yard dash and he has been clocked as fast as 4.50 from that distance. Thomas has a great knack for the ball and is a stellar athlete who can make plays all over the field--against the run or the pass. He sometimes plays over-aggressive football, as he can bite on play-action fakes and go for interceptions at inopportune times. His fundamental tackling could also be improved. At the same time, though, Thomas has huge potential simply based on his athleticism. A fifth-round selection in the 2012 draft is probably a good target for Thomas.
