2012 NFL Draft Prospect Scouting Report:
Elliott Henigan, DT, UAB
Henigan excels getting off the line with explosion, using his hands to initiate contact and punch. The key for him is whether he will be able to learn to sink his hips, keep his butt out and pads low. Henigan relies too much on using upper body strength instead of driving through his legs and back into blockers. He typically will find his way to being upright and rely on an average swim move to get around his man.
Henigan needs to learn how to disengage off of blocks and take his frame through blockers, rather than solely around. If he can add weight to his base, this could change, but he naturally has a lean frame.
It may be best if he played outside linebacker, but that's a big project with talents involved that take time to develop. Henigan projects as an undrafted free agent in the 2012 NFL Draft.
