2012 NFL Draft Prospect Scouting Report:
Chris Rainey, RB, Florida
The Lakeland, FL native stands at a mere 5'8'' and 174 pounds. Players of that size sometimes make it in the NFL--albeit rarely--and Rainey has the speed to do it. He consistently runs in the 4.3s of the 40-yard dash and he has been clocked as fast as 4.25 from that distance. There will be a big buzz at the NFL combine surrounding what time Rainey will turn in for the 40. He is a dangerous weapon catching balls out of the backfield as well. He finished his career as a Gator with 69 receptions for 795 yards. Rainey returned kicks occasionally; in 2011 he had four kick returns for 103 yards and 12 punt returns for 106 yards and a touchdown. It's obvious he will never be an every-down back at the next level due to his diminutive frame, but his speed will make him dangerous in multiple areas. Look for Rainey to be a fourth-round selection in April's draft.
