2013 NFL Draft Prospect Scouting Report:
Cornellius Carradine, DE, Florida State
Carradine has a great first step and establishes position quickly. Explodes into blockers and can use his long frame to occupy running lanes. Had a much improved senior season and sometimes outplayed teammate Bjoern Werner, another top DE prospect in this draft class. Good strength in upper half and displayed both speed and power rushing moves throughout the year. Good consistent effort and follows the action downfield. Lots of help on tackles and assists.
Holds his ground against the run game. Refuses to get pushed around by blockers. Sets the edge well and can turn outside shoulder to seal the edge. Good closing burst when given backside responsibilities. Below average play recognition when engaged with a blocker. Should be able to play either end position and possibly grow into a 3-4 OLB role. A bit too tight in his lower half to be a natural in pass coverage.
Carradine projects as a mid to late second round pick in the 2013 NFL Draft.
