2013 NFL Draft Prospect Scouting Report:
Jackson Jeffcoat, DE, Texas
May need a year to bulk up if he plays in a 4-3. Plays with an adequate blend of power-speed moves to take on blockers. Good finisher and highly disruptive at times. Technique is not an issue. Uses good pad level, dips his hips nicely when changing directions. Decent wingspan and uses his hands to disengage. Could use some added flexibility when bending the corner around blockers.
Jeffcoat finished the 2012 season injured, but has no serious injury or red flag issues.
He has some experience dropping into coverage, although he's tight in his hips. Plays well in short zone coverages. Has enough speed to play 4-3 DE or 3-4 OLB. A physical player, plays with a chip on his shoulder. Aggressive first contact. Not a liability against the run, but will struggle against a more powerful drive blocker. Could use a year of rotational play before becoming a full-time starter.
Jeffcoat projects as a third round pick in the 2013 NFL Draft.
