Josh Boyce Scouting Report

TCU Horned Frogs wide receiver Josh Boyce is a mid-round prospect with below-average height and very good speed who can work the slot and take the top off of defenses.

Boyce already has a maxed-out looking frame and likely would be unable to add an extra bulk. On the other hand, he was able to maintain an excellent timed speed at the 40 yard dash (4.38). Height could limit his ability to play anywhere except the slot. Tough after the catch due to core strength. Can break tackles and displays great balance. Average hands and will sometimes struggle to secure the ball if his arms are fully extended. Foot quickness is excellent when running routes. Locates the football very well. Surprised some scouts with his top-end speed at the Combine, causing many to likely revisit his game film.

Blocking is below-average. Must block to the whistle and bring more intensity to his craft. Highly aggressive on 50/50 balls. Brings high effort when running routes and particularly with the ball in his hands. Some tightness in his hips. Sets up defenders with nice head fakes and jukes.

Boyce projects as a fourth to fifth round pick in the 2013 NFL Draft.
