2013 NFL Draft Prospect Scouting Report:
person

Michael Buchanan, DE, Illinois

Illinois defensive end Michael Buchanan had a lot of hype in his favor after his junior year. Lost 20 pounds during that offseason due to having jaw wired shut after breaking jaw in altercation. Weight loss took a toll on his body and was not the same player this past season. Long frame and arms. Will need to bulk up in a big way and this could require a redshirt year. Solid speed on the edge. Could transition to 3-4 OLB. Has experience both as a stand up OLB and with one hand on the ground. Extends arms well at times. Still needs refinement in his bend around the edge. Adding strength is the key.
